Question 1

List your judicial experience (courts and years)

Over 17 years as a full-time Magistrate in The Trumbull County Family Court.

Abbreviated Candidate Answers

Over 17 years as a full-time Magistrate in The Trumbull County Family Court.

Question 2

What non-judicial legal experience qualifies you to be a judge?

As a child of divorce, I went through a bitter custody battle as a child which allows me to empathize with the children and families in our court. I am a widower and I am now part of a blended family which gives me much-needed perspective. Additionally, I have extensive experience coaching youth sports, working with families, and mentoring other children for their futures.   The foregoing has given me significant insight into the emotional aspects of the cases before me.

Additionally, before law school and during law school, I worked as a banker.  This experience allows me to better understand the financial aspects of the cases I face daily in court.

Question 3

Why are you running for this particular court seat?

I know just how tough it can be for kids to come from a divorced family because I’m one of those kids. My parents divorced when I was a toddler and I know what it’s like to carry around and hide those scars that affect kids that come from a failed marriage. That’s why I’ve dedicated my life to domestic law and advocating and protecting children who find themselves in vulnerable situations that they didn’t choose.

Now despite its challenges, it turned out okay for me, but for some kids, it can affect them for the rest of their lives, and my job as a magistrate and my primary goals as a Family Court judge will be to help and protect those Trumbull County children and families so they have the best chance to thrive in the future.

Along with my extensive experience of over 17 years in family court, this would be a seamless transition to replace the judge who is now retiring.
