Question 1

List your judicial experience (courts and years)

None. I did previously run for judge of the Franklin County Court of Appeals in 2008, at which time I received a "Highly Recommended" rating from the Columbus Bar Association. I am more experienced now than I was then and better equipped to be a judge than ever.

Question 2

What non-judicial legal experience qualifies you to be a judge?

I am an AV-rated, experienced civil trial attorney, and have tried jury and bench trials all over the State of Ohio from the mid-1980s forward. I have represented individuals, small businesses, and fortune 500 companies in tort and contract actions involving a variety of substantive areas, including personal injury, products liability, premises liability, medical malpractice, and wrongful death. For eight years while I was a sole practitioner I represented three divisions of the Ohio Department of Commerce (Real Estate, Industrial Compliance and Labor, and Financial Institutions & Professional Licensing) in administrative hearings in over 200 matters, serving as a judge making findings of fact, arriving at conclusions of law, and preparing written decisions. I also have criminal litigation experience, representing clients in various municipal courts in Central Ohio, and, for six years, handling appellate matters for indigent defendants in the Franklin County Court of Appeals via assignment from the Court. I have also represented clients in administrative hearings before various agencies, including the Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation, Ohio Industrial Commission, Ohio Civil Rights Commission, and Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. My legal and trial experience is lengthy and varied. i have the temperament to be a judge, and will serve the public in a fair, impartial, and compassionate manner, respecting the litigants, the attorneys, the public, and the rule of law.

Question 3

Why are you running for this particular court seat?

I have served my community as a State Representative for over seven years (2017 - present) and have greatly enjoyed this public service. Serving as a judge will allow me to continue that public service while also permitting me to utilize my legal training and 42 years of legal and trial experience from the bench. I will bring an ethic of hard work to the bench, and will give civil matters the attention they deserve but don't always get, while maintaining the integrity of the court and the judicial process.
