Question 2
What non-judicial legal experience qualifies you to be a judge?
I have worked most of my career within the court system. The value of my non-judicial legal experience was that it provided me insight and empathy into the dimensions of the attorney-client relationship and the experience of being on the other side of the bench. I try to be patient, fair and look at both sides of a case when making decisions. I strive to issue timely opinions and keep my docket moving. I have broad legal experience, having served as an Assistant Prosecutor for the City of Alliance, and in my private practice I represented clients in Family Court, Common Pleas and other Municipal Courts.
I am the only candidate in this race who has handled criminal cases on both sides of the bench. This is important because fifty percent of the cases that are appealed to the Fifth District Court of Appeals are criminal cases. I am the only candidate who has handled cases in all the courts whose decisions can be reviewed by the Fifth District Court of Appeals. This gives me insight into the trial court process and familiarity with the various issues and areas of law that can be raised on appeal.
