Question 1
List your judicial experience (courts and years)
I was elected to my first term in 2019 and have served as a Judge of the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas, General Division for almost six years. I preside over adult felony cases and civil lawsuits that are $15,000 and more. I also serve on various committess within the Court, including chairing the Access to Justice Committee.
Question 2
What non-judicial legal experience qualifies you to be a judge?
Prior to joining the judiciary, I was an Assistant City Attorney for the City of Columbus. I worked in the Civil section focusing on public nuisances and working to create safe neighborhoods through the justice system. I was appointed and later elected to Columbus City Council where I served as a legislator to help improve the lives of residents in Columbus. I was also Of Counsel at the law firm of Eastman & Smith where I represented a variety of clients primarily in public and environmental law. My non-judicial legal experiences have given me a great amount of experience in the law and also in public service.
Question 3
Why are you running for this particular court seat?
My first term on the bench has been an amazing experience and I am running to retain this seat because I am committed to my community and providing access to justice for all. I preside over hundreds of criminal and civil cases where people are seeking judicial intervention for a resolution. I work hard every day to render decisions that are fair and thoughtful, with the understanding that my decisions have lasting impacts on people's lives. I am running for this particular seat so that I can continue to serve my community and also provide a courtroom where all the parties and victims have the opportunity to be heard. I have been honored to have the support of the residents of Franklin County and I hopeful to have that support again as I seek re-election.
