Question 3
Why are you running for this particular court seat?
Our citizens are statistically more likely to interact with a County or Municipal Court in Ohio than any other type of Court. We live in a complex and diverse community in Butler County, and the citizens here deserve a Judicial system that can meet the needs of the community. Ohio's Municipal and County Courts often stand in a unique position to try and prevent future interactions with the Court System before they further escalate and connect with all those involved in the matters that come before it on a direct level. I believe I have and can continue to effectuate a direct impact on our community in this position by ensuring the efficient and timely access to the justice system our citizens should expect, and having a variety of resources to address the issues that come before the court. In my three years on the bench, I have certified two Specialized Dockets as Presiding Judge with the Ohio Supreme Court to address both mental health issues and substance abuse issues for those with a qualifying diagnosis. Those dockets are thriving with many successful graduates. Our community stakeholders work with the Court by connecting people in need of mental health and substance abuse services. This approach provides needed alternatives designed to achieve long term treatment and recovery and enhance community safety through intense and ongoing Court monitoring and accountability.
