Prior to my election, I was an Assistant Lucas County Prosecutor where I represented the State of Ohio in adult felony proceedings in the Common Pleas Court, General Trial Division, including arraignments, suppression hearings, probation violation hearings, pretrials, fugitive hearings, and trials. I also assisted on cases in Juvenile court involving delinquency matters related to pending adult cases assigned to me. I also acted as appellate counsel for the State of Ohio by preparing appellate briefs and making appellate arguments before the Sixth District Courts of Appeals. During my time in the Prosecutors office, I participated in over 70 adult felony trials before the court and juries, with charges including murder, felonious assault, rape, aggravated burglary, robbery, drug trafficking, and numerous offenses involving the use of firearms.

Question 2
What non-judicial legal experience qualifies you to be a judge?
Throughout my career I have worked to make the criminal justice system more effective. As an Assistant Lucas County Prosecutor, I worked on cases that put some of the worst offenders behind bars. As the Elected Toledo Municipal Clerk of Court, I have negotiated union contracts for the nearly 80 office employees, and served as their hearing officer. I have led the Clerk’s office into a new era of transparency and respectability throughout the community.
Question 3
Why are you running for this particular court seat?
I was born and raised in Toledo and I have worked hard to make my hometown a safe and productive place where I have chosen to raise a family and continue to mentor youth and young professionals in hopes of keeping their talents and gifts in this community. I came from a background similar to many of the children served by the juvenile court. I am someone who can use my background and experiences as an example of how our youth can overcome adversities and achieve success; giving them hope for a brighter future.
