Question 1

List your judicial experience (courts and years)

I was elected in 2016 to become the first judge of the newly unified Common Pleas Court of Delaware County, Domestic Relations Division.  Prior to becoming a judge, I served 6 months as a magistrate for the Common Pleas Court of Delaware County, General Division.

I currently serve as President-Elect of the Ohio Association of Domestic Relations Judges.  I am a member of the Board of Trustees for the Ohio Judicial College.  I am also President of the Ohio Chapter of the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts (AFCC) and the Council Delegate for the international AFCC organization.

I am a member of the Executive Committee of the Ohio Judicial Conference and serve on the Ohio Judicial Conference's Domestic Relations Law and Procedure Committee, Court Administration Committee, Court Technology Committee and the Judicial Advisory Group.   I am a member of the National Council for Juvenile and Family Court Judges and the American Judges Association.

I have presented training on behalf of the Ohio Judicial College to Ohio Domestic Relations Judges and Magistrates and assisted with training of new judges.  I have testified several times before the Ohio House of Representatives, Civil Justice Committee, and the Ohio Senate, Judiciary Committee, on behalf of the Ohio Judicial Conference.

Question 2

What non-judicial legal experience qualifies you to be a judge?

I have a personal and professional commitment to Delaware County.  I am a life-long resident of Delaware County.  I managed a successful law practice in downtown Delaware for over 20 years.  During that time, I represented numerous people in domestic relations cases and served as a guardian ad litem, representing the best interests of minor children.

I have served on many local non-profit boards including, President of the Delaware County Friends of CASA, President of Del-Mor Dwellings, Vice President of the Delaware County Developmental Disability Board, Board Member for Delaware County Red Cross and a Board Member for People In Need.

I am currently a member of the Delaware County Farm Bureau and the Delaware Rotary club.

Question 3

Why are you running for this particular court seat?

It has been a great honor to serve as Judge of the Common Pleas Court of Delaware County, Domestic Relations Division.  As Judge, I have created a fair and efficient court system to help families as they go through one of the most difficult times in their lives.

I have created court programs to enable families to resolve their disagreements.  While the Court is the ultimate arbiter of disagreements, in family law, it is often in the best interests of the children and their family to resolve their own dispute.

As such, I have created multiple court programs to help family members obtain a fair resolution that is in the best interests of their children, including Settlement Week, Neutral Evaluation and Co-Parent Coaching.  All of these programs are designed to give families the tools they need to resolve disagreements.

In my second term as Judge, I will continue these successful programs that help families resolve conflict and will continue to try to find new and better ways to help families as they go through the Domestic Relations Court.
