Five and a half years as a judge on the Franklin County Municipal Court.
Question 2
What non-judicial legal experience qualifies you to be a judge?
I have a lot of non-judicial experience that qualifies me to be a judge. Thirty-three years of legal experience in many areas of law. Areas of law include but are not limited to criminal, civil, business law, real estate, construction, collections, landlord/tenant, zoning, consumer, personal injury, juvenile, elections law, and bankruptcy law. Seven years on Columbus City Council. Five years as a City of Columbus Civil Service Commissioner. Chair of the Columbus Bar Association Municipal Court Committee. Continuing legal education as a judge and an attorney. My service with following organizations: past member of Franklin County Board of Elections, Columbus Bar Association, Ohio Bar Association, Inns of Court, Ohio Judicial College, Columbus Bar Foundation, and the National Association of Women Business Owners. My work as a prior board member of the National Council of Jewish Women, prior Board member of the Neighborhood House, Inc., and Board member of Greater Columbus Arts Council. I have spent many years working in the community understanding the needs of my constituents and using that knowledge to create opportunities in all of my positions. I have also used that knowledge as a Judge to implement knew programs and policies in the Court.
Question 3
Why are you running for this particular court seat?
I have always believed we can solve a lot of our problems in this community and the court through the community. My biggest goal has been to stay in the community and create new ideas to visit people in the community and not in the courthouse. I would like to continue my quest for the improvement of the quality of justice. As a public servant and a taxpayer, I think it is critical to look at factors that can save money and save lives. I am a big proponent of thinking outside the box and treating every person with respect to allow people to grow and prosper. I will continue to use my experience to interact with other governmental branches in order to try to ensure that laws and policies enacted for the legal system can be implemented in the legal system. I have been an advocate for justice, safe neighborhoods, and the arts community since I began serving my community. My all-around experience gives me the unique experiences to work on change. I enjoy using my abilities and experiences to make a difference in the community that has given me so much.
