In 1993, she founded Ebner Law Offices which in private practice her legal experience specialized in the fields of criminal defense, traffic, contracts, probate, and real estate law. Judge Ebner's tenure as a sitting Franklin County Municipal Court Judge began on January 6, 2016 for a term of six years.

What non-judicial legal experience qualifies you to be a judge?

Judge Cynthia L. Ebner is a life-long resident of Franklin County has been highly active in our community. Cynthia's other interests lie in real estate development and management as well as being active in local, national, and international community leadership. Cynthia is a graduate of Eastmoor High School where she graduated second in her class of over 300. She attended The Ohio State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in finance and real estate and then attended Capital University Law School and Notre Dame Law School in London, England. In 1993, she was licensed and founded Ebner Law Offices. She also obtained her real estate Broker's license and started Ebner Realty Group, Ltd, obtained her Life/Health and Property/Casualty Insurance license, and opened Gesso Studios, Ltd. She is a founding member of the United Way's Women's Leadership Council and has served on the executive board for the Central Ohio Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and is a member of the Columbus Bar Association. Additionally, she is founder of the Children of Holocaust Survivors - both OSU and Columbus chapters, a former member of the National Young Leadership Cabinet of the Columbus Jewish Federation, both the Anti-Defamation League and Columbus Jewish Foundation's Legal and Tax Advisory Board, to name a few. Cynthia was also involved in the production of the Emmy award winning documentary-drama “A Survivors Journey” a story of the survival of her father, Murray Ebner, during the Holocaust.

Why are you running for this particular court seat?

My judicial perspective and motivations are simple: in everything that I do as a judge my role is to be fair, reasonable, respectful, yet decisive in bringing my 27+ years of experience and knowledge of practicing law in the city, state, and federal courts to the Franklin County Municipal Court, also known as the “People's Court”. As a current sitting judge, I enter this re-election campaign with the gratitude and grace of having served as a judge over the last 5 plus years presiding over 1000s of cases, and dozens of court and jury trials. From these experiences, I also enter this campaign with the humble realization and daily recognition of how the decisions of the court system influence our citizens' lives, their families, and the overall health of all Franklin County communities, and the belief that in the court of law every citizen is to be given respect and a voice to be heard. Inherent in the role of judge is my judicial philosophy that my job is to efficiently enforce the rights and laws as set forth within our Constitution, and to uphold settled law, meaning legal principles established by previous rulings. I have been honored to be elected judge five and a half years ago, proud of the differences I have made in the lives of those that have stood before me, and I would be honored to be elected for another term.
