Question 1
List your judicial experience (courts and years)
No prior judicial experience.
Question 2
What non-judicial legal experience qualifies you to be a judge?
My non-judicial experience includes a very diverse array of subject matters in both public and private law practice. My private practice experience consisted of general practice assisting individuals and businesses with matters that impacted their day-to-day lives. This included criminal matters and civil litigation and disputes as well as domestic relations, transactional and real estate matters. My practice also included work in the courts of appeals in both civil and criminal matters. My experience in public practice has focused on representing the people of Ohio on matters involving environmental and natural resource concerns, and has allowed me the opportunity to visit a variety of courts throughout Ohio and observe how they operate. This perspective allows me to consider ways new technologies and procedures could be used in Clark County. As a former Springfield City Commissioner, I was involved in the municipal legislative process adopting local ordinances, participating in public hearings, and making decisions pertaining to budgetary and zoning cases as well as voting upon legislative items. These experiences have provided me with a depth of legal knowledge, as well as the skills for running and managing a public office. My background allows me to work collaboratively and possess the appropriate temperament and demeanor to preside over contested matters and fairly and impartially render sound decisions.
Question 3
Why are you running for this particular court seat?
I wish to serve the people of Clark County by bringing my diverse legal experience of over 25 years to the bench to help render fair decisions in criminal and civil matters that come before the Court. I feel my background and training make me uniquely qualified to preside over the vast array of matters that may be heard by a county municipal court. I also hope that I may bring a fresh perspective to the Court. This includes cooperating and collaborating in the creation of a Drug Court special docket in Clark County to more effectively address drug offenses stemming from substance addiction.
