Question 1

List your judicial experience (courts and years)

I was sworn in a Clark County Municipal Court Judge on June 14, 2021 after being selected to succeed retiring Judge Denise Moody.

Question 2

What non-judicial legal experience qualifies you to be a judge?

As an assistant prosecuting attorney for 16 years I have lived and breathed the criminal justice system. As a prosecutor I prosecuted the most heinous crimes in Clark County including drug dealers, child rapist and murderers. I have been involved in every part of the court process. This includes charging defendants, the arraignment process, setting of bonds, pretrial conferences, trials and sentencings. Most importantly I have learned that often times victims are left out of the process and as a prosecutor I worked everyday to make sure that they received any justice that I could bring for them. Simply based on my experience I understand what works in the court system and what needs to be done better.

Question 3

Why are you running for this particular court seat?

I am born and raised in Clark County, Ohio. I have raised my 4 children in Clark County, Ohio. In 2005 I joined the prosecutor's office so that I could serve the citizens of Clark County and try and make a difference for my community. I have been blessed with the ability to stand before a jury a present a clear and concise case and was very successful in prosecuting violent criminals in this county. Everyday as an assistant prosecuting attorney I tried and hopefully succeeded in making a difference. After 16 years of working as a prosecutor Judge Denise Moody announced her retirement, and with her encouraging, I applied and was later chosen to succeed her as Municipal Court Judge. This has given me a new perspective as to the challenges that face Clark County whether that be a desperate need for additional mental health facilities or a need for sober living beds. I also have the unique perspective from my experience that I understand that there are some defendant's that need compassion and help and that there are some that need to be punished with incarceration. This experience could only be gained through my years in the criminal justice system as an assistant prosecuting attorney. As a judge I now understand even more that my experience and leadership are needed to continue to advance Clark County.
